From humble beginnings to a recognized leader in power generation, KGE’s story is one of growth, innovation, and commitment to reliability.
The Beginning
KGE was founded by John E. Kelly, Jr. in a small shared facility. What began as a modest operation quickly built a reputation for dependability and personal service.
Expanding Capabilities
The Kelly brothers moved KGE to a new 25,000 sq. ft. facility in Upper Marlboro, MD, investing over $1 million in a rental fleet ranging from 20 kW to 2 MW.
Building for the Future
Construction began on a 28,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Owings, MD, complete with a state-of-the-art training facility. KGE became the top Generac trainer, earning Generac’s Training Award for two consecutive years.
Growing Our Reach
KGE expanded its area of responsibility into Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, extending support to new industrial and commercial markets.
Expanding Again
To accommodate its growing rental operations, KGE added 3.5 acres to its Owings campus. The fleet grew to include units capable of delivering up to 12 MW of combined power.
30 Years of Excellence
KGE celebrated 30 years in business, reflecting on a legacy of growth and the ongoing mission to supply customers with electricity — under all circumstances.
Ground Breaking on New Building
Broke ground for new building housing our mid-Atlantic rentals fleet, operations and staff.
