Case Studies

Gensets for Biogas Application in a Dairy:

  • The District 45 Dairy LLP dairy factory, located on 320 acres of land in Hancock, Minnesota, USA, has approximately 5,560 cows. These cows generate approximately 5,900,000 cubic feet of manure each year. The dairy factory realized the benefit of installing a combined heat and power (CHP) module to capture the biogas and used it to their advantage.

Gas Powered Gensets Operate Flawlessly in Canadian Oil Field:

  • As one of the world’s top independent oil and gas exploration and production companies, Houston, TX-based Apache Corporation has been active in the Fox Creek region for a number of years with numerous oil and gas wells and facilities. After exploring its options, Apache decided to install a high-efficiency Siemens gen-set, known for its toughness and superior performance, even under the harshest conditions.

Swine Waste in Power Generation:

  • Storms Hog Power (SHP) swine waste-to-energy plant located near Blandenboro, North Carolina, U.S.A, is functioning at full capacity producing 600 kW. The plant, the largest of its kind in the state, has been in constant operation since October 2013.

Sunny Brook Farms:

  • Whether it is the use of GPS to manage farm operations, or drip irrigation to maximize plant productivity, Sunny Brook Farms remains on the forefront of efficient farming technology. According to Mr. Brooks, in a highlycompetitive environment like farming, Sunny Brook has to be as efficient as it can in all aspects of operation. It was this tenet that led Mr. Brooks to Siemens engine distributor, Valley Power Systems, in Fresno, California for a solution to efficiently and reliably provide power for a new 1,500 foot irrigation well.

Combined Heat and Power Solution Saves University USD $1,000 a Day:

  • Located in Middletown, CT, Wesleyan University is a premier liberal arts college, with approximately 3,000 students, and comprising 307 buildings on 370 acres. In 2008, the department’s engineering team installed a combined heat and power (CHP) unit (not a Siemens system) to help reduce energy costs. CHP is a process that uses the heat normally wasted during electricity generation rather than releasing it into the atmosphere.
